media audiences

In today's lesson we started by looking at different stereotypes of people and we had to list what genre they would be into and why and recommend films that they would like. So for a person who wears dark clothes and likes dark and twisted things I would recommend a horror film.

Then we drew a picture of what I think a stereotype of me would look like and what media products could be sold to me. I chose gamer since that is something I am interested in and something I do a lot in my spare time. So I drew a person in an assassins creed t shirt thinking about all the different games consoles. I put labels around my person saying what he would be interested in and what kind of clothes he would wear so I put he would wear gaming t shirts. I also put what could be sold the person, so he would be interested in action films if he likes games because games are mostly action based, I said he would like films and TV shows that are based on games. Finally I put that he would like gaming magazines since they have exclusives about games.

  1. Good work. You show a clear understanding of different stereotypes and how the media industry can use these stereotypes to target specific products at certain people (highlighted by your own "gamer" stereotype with labels showing what products could be sold to you) Well done
